"Gitanjali 35" é um dos poemas mais famosos de Rabindranath Tagore, nascido neste dia 7 de Maio de 1861 em Calcutá, na Índia. O primeiro laureado da literatura não europeia, recebeu o Prémio Nobel "pelos seus versos profundamente sensíveis, frescos e belos, pelos quais, com consumada habilidade, tornou o seu pensamento poético, expresso nas suas próprias palavras em inglês, parte da literatura do Ocidente".
Tagore escreveu poesia, ficção, drama, ensaios e canções; promoveu reformas na educação, na estética e na religião; e no final dos seus 60 anos chegou a virar-se para as artes plásticas, produzindo 2.500 pinturas e desenhos antes da sua morte.
